As an important component of China’s export goods, sanitary ceramic products are increasingly in demand for international markets, especially in Southeast Asian countries such as Vietnam. Vietnam, as a member of the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (RCEP), has unique import policies and standards, and for exporters, understanding and complying with these regulations is key to successfully entering the market.

Vietnam’s construction sanitary ceramic product standards are formulated by the Ministry of Science and Technology’s Standards and Quality Bureau, which is responsible for national standards, measurement, certification recognition, quality management and other work, as well as Vietnam’s WTO/TBT national consultancy.
Technical regulations and standards for sanitary ceramic products in Vietnam
On December 31, 2019, the Ministry of Construction of Vietnam issued the Notice on the National Technical Regulations for Construction Materials Products and Goods, and issued the Technical Regulations QCVN16:2019/BXD, replacing QCVN16:2017/BXD.

1, sanitary ceramics exported to Vietnam must pass the qualification assessment, and the designated or approved testing body shall issue the qualification testing report.
There are three ways for enterprises to obtain the qualification certificate:
sample testing (certificate valid for 1 year);
Model testing and production process assessment (certificate valid for 3 years, monitored annually);
? Test assessment of product batches (valid once).
The choice of the company should be determined according to its own quality management system, shipment volume and other factors.
d) Other Observations
(A) Avoid the risk of intellectual property lawsuits, pay attention to the target market has applied for patents, trademarks and so on.
(2) Respect the cultural customs and ethnic customs of the destination, such as product colour, pattern design, etc.
(3) Respond to anti-dumping investigations, understand the anti-dumping rules of the WTO, and respond actively.
(IV) Pay attention to "green technical barriers," such as requirements on hazardous substance content, "eco-labeling," and green packaging.
V. Enterprise Response Measures
(A) Strengthen the collection of research on the target market technical regulations and standards, and master the latest version.
(2) Increase research and development efforts, implement brand strategy, and enhance product added value.
(3) Adjust production according to technical requirements, strictly control the content of hazardous substances such as lead and radioactive substances in raw materials, and ensure compliance with the standard requirements of the importing country.
In summary, exporting sanitary ceramic products to Vietnam requires meeting the qualified assessment requirements of the Vietnamese construction sector, complying with relevant Vietnamese technical regulations and standards, while also paying attention to avoiding intellectual property risks, respecting local cultural customs, addressing anti-dumping investigations, and fulfilling other requirements and challenges such as "green technical barriers." Enterprises must strengthen the collection of standard information, improve product quality and added value, and optimize production processes. By understanding and adapting to these requirements, as well as implementing effective response strategies, they can successfully enter the Vietnamese market and achieve product internationalization.
